Clearing Cobwebs
I am reporting to you from the Calgary Stampede. An outing to the “Greatest Show on Earth” is not a usual occurrence for me. However an artist friend and I wanted to see the art show so off we went.
Some beautiful work and many of the artists were present.
The weather has been beautiful this week. Something nostalgic and fun about the heartbeat of the Midway, especially when it is lit up at night.
My friend had her palm read, while I strolled around drinking Cafe Americana. As I soaked up the surrealism of the fifties style booths, and the characters therein, it transported me to another place and time, when the same scenerio felt large and strange and new. Aromas of corndogs, mini donuts and elephant ears wafted amid stuffed toys; trinkets won; designed to fuel the imagination, while filling the senses to a backdrop of barely audible music blaring through loud speakers. People watching has always been a favorite pastime of mine and this was a feast for the eyes.
What exquisite timing … just as we took a ride on the Ferris wheel … the fireworks began!
A bird’s eye view! You can see the Calgary Skyline in the background and the
Calgary Tower in this photo on the right. Sometimes it is good to step out of your comfort zone and do something entirely different! It blows the cobwebs out.
And “there’s a crack in everything … that’s how the light gets in”
… thank you Leonard!
